As a child, I have vivid memories of visiting my Grandmother Adkins's home in Opelika, Alabama. She’d take my sister and I to the "Walmarts," where we each picked out a paper doll book. Then, we'd return to her small duplex, where she'd saved old Sears catalogs for us to cut up and create a magical paper doll world throughout her small living room. While my sister Molly and I played for hours, Grandma sat on her scratchy brown floral sofa, lost in her soap operas with her dog Snoopy by her side.

Creating this "Box Girl" series felt much like those simple moments in her living room. Each girl has been curated within her box creating a magical world for the viewers to behold.
